SAIC Fashion Show 2006
Presents Ready-to-Wear and Avant-Garde Fashions

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will host SAIC Fashion 2006 on May 4 and 5 in the 9th Floor Events Center of the historic Marshall Field’s department store (111 N. State Street). For more than seventy years, SAIC has presented a truly unique fashion show. SAIC Fashion 2006 will be a multimedia event utilizing both runway and video performance to showcase over 200 innovative garments, ranging from the elegant and ready-to-wear, to the fearless and edgy avant-garde.

“The Fashion Show showcases the work of gifted students from our fashion design program, and
has established SAIC as one of the innovators of fashion design in the world,” says SAIC
President Tony Jones. Judges will award over fifteen scholarships and grants to student designs presented at the faculty and student- produced show. The show represents the culmination of a year’s worth of work by each student to design a full collection of garments inspired by their personal vision. Designs include a range of women’s and men’s sports, casual and evening wear as well as handmade accessories. Hand embellishment and fabric development are hallmarks of the artistic approach to hands-on garment production at SAIC. Sophomore, junior, and senior students will display unified collections that demonstrate the innovations in fashion design being made at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

SAIC Fashion 2006 is pleased to recognize the generous contribution of Aveda Institute Chicago, who will provide hair and make-up styling for the event.
